Emergency Alert - Police find 19 burned bodies in Mexico

Jan, 26 2021 at 10:02 PM (UTC)

Authorities in Mexico have found 19 bodies that were shot and burned outside the town of Camargo. The grim scene was discovered after residents reported a burning vehicle. When police arrived, they found two burning vehicles, one containing four bodies and the other containing the bodies of the 15 other victims. Because no bullet shells were found, authorities believe that the victims were shot elsewhere and then transported to the site. While there has yet to be an official report confirming the claim, rumors are circulating in Guatemala that some of the victims may have been Guatemalan migrants. Camargo is a hotspot for drug and migrant smuggling, as well as gang violence.

At least five people were killed in a fire at the Serum Institute of India, one of the largest vaccine-producing facilities in the world. The facility is currently producing the Covishield COVID-19 vaccine, but authorities stated that production would not be affected by the incident. The fire appears to have started in a separate building that was still under construction on the same site, but the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. The facility is the biggest in the world in terms of volume, producing more than 1.5 billion doses of vaccines for 170 different countries. They also hope to produce 100 million coronavirus vaccines by March. Emergency Alert - Twelve people found executed in Mexico

Jan, 19 2021 at 10:45 PM (UTC)

Twelve men have been found dead after being shot execution-style in Las Choapas, Mexico. One of the deceased was a 60-year-old local self-defense group leader and municipal official who was bound and gagged with visible signs of torture. The motive for the attack has yet to be officially confirmed but there are several unverified reports. One report claims that the self-defense group tried to rescue a boy who had been kidnapped, angering a local cartel. Another suggests that it may have been a dispute between two separate self-defense groups caused by the victims themselves having kidnapped a boy. The southeast corner of Veracruz, where the attack took place, is largely considered to be one of the most dangerous areas in the state due to several different criminal groups in the area fighting for control in the region.

No tsunami warning has been issued but many people have fled their homes to safety as aftershocks from the initial quake could still cause one to form.
