Emergency Alert - Nineteen dead after gunmen raid villages in Nigeria

At least nineteen people are dead after gunmen raided two separate villages in Nigeria's northwest Kaduna state. According to Internal Affairs Commissioner Samuel Aruwan, the perpetrators approached the towns of Kutemeshi and Kujeni on motorcycles before opening fire. Fourteen of the victims were killed in Kutemeshi and the remaining five in Kujeni. However, according to residents, nineteen people were killed in just Kutemeshi alone. The attackers also looted shops and burned down several structures. Unfortunately, attacks like this aren't uncommon in the region. Violence in the area has claimed 8,000 lives and displaced 200,000 people since 2011.

Emergency Alert - Two people killed after blasts in Pakistan

At least two people have been killed and about 28 others have been injured after two separate explosions in Pakistan. The two grenade blasts occurred several hours apart in Quetta and Balochistan's Sibi district. The attacks were carried out by individuals on motorcycles, but no group has yet taken responsibility. The perpetrators also laid a land mine that detonated when a vehicle carrying security personnel drove over it. Several of those injured, including two children, were rushed to Sibi Civil Hospital. Four of them were severely injured.

At least fifteen people have been injured after a minivan collided with another vehicle in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Four of the victims were seriously injured and brought to a nearby hospital while seven others sustained moderate injuries. The remaining four only experienced minor injuries. According to Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Traffic Department at Dubai Police, the accident took place on Hassah Street near the Sieh Shuaib area. Police and medical professionals rushed to the scene to administer first aid and transport the seriously injured to the hospital.

Emergency Alert - Four killed in car accident in Pakistan

Four people have been killed after a collision between two cars in Islamabad, Pakistan. The vehicle that struck the other was allegedly driven by the son of the federal ombudswoman, Kashmala Tariq. A person on a motorcycle was also hit and is injured. Those who survived the accident were rescued from the wreckage by bystanders that had gathered as the site of the crash. The victims were then taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences. The driver and vehicle and vehicle in question are now in police custody. Authorities have begun attempting to contact the families of the deceased.

Seven people were killed by gunmen at a party in north-central Mexico on Sunday. The victims died when the gunmen approached on two motorcycles, stole their belongings and left for a period of time before returning and opening fire. The deceased include six men and one woman. Jalisco state, where the attack took place, is home to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. However, authorities have not confirmed the perpetrator. The attack took place near the Zacatecas border, where several drug gangs regularly fight over territory. There was another similar attack in the city of Uruapan when three gunmen opened fire at a different party. While there were several people, including children, wounded, no one was killed at the prior event.

Emergency Alert - Patients turned away in Indonesia as ICUs fill up

As COVID-19 cases pass the one million mark in Indonesia, ICU beds in many of the country's hospitals are filling up. According to Dr. Erlina Burhan, who has provided medical care for more than 30 years, the hospital where she works has been between 90 and 100 percent capacity for about six months. Now, the situation has escalated to the point where “We reject patients every day because there is nothing we can do if the hospital is full.” Other hospitals have begun using their general section to treat coronavirus patients as all of their designated COVID-19 areas are at capacity. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 28,500 Indonesians have lost their lives to the virus.

At least 27 people have been abducted by armed men along the Wukari-Takum road in Taraba state, Nigeria. According to the local government chairman, Shiban Tikari, the victims were kidnapped on their way back to Takum. He went on to say that authorities and local residents are combing the area for any signs of the victims. Officials have yet to determine who has been abducted and who is responsible for the attack. At the time the article was published, none of the families of the missing had been contacted or notified of the event.

Emergency Alert - Clashes break out at Indian Farmers' Protest

At least one farmer is dead after clashes between protesters and police at the Indian Farmers' Protest in Delhi. Scores of other farmers and police officers were also injured. The conflict comes amidst a month-long standoff between hundreds of thousands of farmers and the government after controversial farming laws were passed. The protesters are demanding that three of these laws be repealed because they feel as though they help big businesses while damaging the livelihood of smaller farms. While the protesters were approved to hold a demonstration on the outskirts of the city, a portion of the group split off and headed toward the center of the capital, where a parade was occuring. They were subsequently met with tear gas and beaten with canes.

Emergency Alert - Police find 19 burned bodies in Mexico

Authorities in Mexico have found 19 bodies that were shot and burned outside the town of Camargo. The grim scene was discovered after residents reported a burning vehicle. When police arrived, they found two burning vehicles, one containing four bodies and the other containing the bodies of the 15 other victims. Because no bullet shells were found, authorities believe that the victims were shot elsewhere and then transported to the site. While there has yet to be an official report confirming the claim, rumors are circulating in Guatemala that some of the victims may have been Guatemalan migrants. Camargo is a hotspot for drug and migrant smuggling, as well as gang violence.

Emergency Alert - Seven orphans and four others kidnapped in Nigeria

Seven orphans and four others have been kidnapped by gunmen in Abuja, Nigeria. According to an anonymous eye-witness account, the orphans were sleeping at Rachael's Orphanage Home when the gunmen forced their way through the front door and led the children out at gunpoint. The others who were kidnapped included the security guard for the home and a few neighbors from the area. According to Mohammed Narudeen, one of the neighbors who was affected, “I was sleeping when they came and threatened to shoot me if I refused to open the door for them, in which I refused until they forced the door open and entered inside the room and whisked my wife away.” Narudeen sustained one bullet wound but is expected to recover. Authorities have begun an investigation in an attempt to rescue the victims.
